📰 Important Notice for U.S. Customers: Suspension of Japan Post Shipments to the U.S.
Dear Sendico Customers,
We would like to inform you of important updates regarding shipments from Japan to the United States.
On July 30, 2025, the U.S. government issued an executive order titled “Termination of De Minimis Treatment for All Countries”. Under this order:
- Starting August 29, 2025, mail containing goods imported for personal use (taxable mail) will no longer be eligible for duty-free treatment, and tariffs will be imposed.
- On August 15, 2025, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced new guidelines requiring transport operators to pay customs deposits and prepare customs declarations for all taxable mail.
- However, the exact procedures that postal and transport operators in each country must follow are still unclear, creating difficulties for implementation.
🚫 Suspension of Shipments
As a result, Japan Post will temporarily suspend the acceptance of postal items (small packets, parcels, and EMS goods) addressed to the United States starting Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
This suspension covers all goods-containing shipments via Japan Post destined for the U.S.
📦 What This Means for Sendico Customers
- Orders to U.S. customers shipped via Japan Post (small packet, parcel post, or EMS goods) cannot be accepted after August 27, 2025.
- At this time, the suspension is temporary, but there is no clear timeline for when normal service will resume.
- Alternative courier options (such as DHL, FedEx, or UPS) may remain available for your shipments, though these are subject to different tariffs, customs requirements, and fees.
Please refer to this Japan Post link for further information
We understand this is an unexpected and disruptive change, and we will continue to update you as soon as Japan Post or CBP provide further information.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
