📦 Japanese Packaging Material Shortage - Sendico's Response
We would like to inform customers about an ongoing supply chain issue currently affecting packaging materials distribution in Japan due to ongoing conflicts across regions.
Recent industry reports have highlighted severe shortages and price increases affecting essential logistics materials such as:
- Stretch film
- PP strapping bands
- OPP tape
- Bubble-wrap
- Other plastic-based packing materials
According to industry analysis, the situation is being driven by disruptions to petrochemical supply chains and shortages of naphtha-derived materials used in packaging production, and some materials are now under reserve-allocation systems due to limited supply availability.

How Sendico Is Responding
Here at Sendico, we are already taking steps to minimize the impact on our customers:
- We are actively sourcing alternative packaging materials and supply routes where possible
- We are optimizing our packing methods to reduce unnecessary parcel bulk
- You may begin to notice different packaging materials being used in future parcels as we adapt to supply conditions
Although packaging material costs have risen significantly, we are currently doing our best to keep our service fees unchanged.
Possible Future Impact
At this time, operations remain normal. However, if the supply situation worsens in the coming months, there is a possibility of:
- delays in parcel packaging
- temporary shortages of certain packing materials
- slower dispatch times during periods where materials cannot be readily obtained
We will continue monitoring the situation closely and will keep customers informed as conditions develop.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
